The best way to stay fit in the Kailas and Mansarovar region is to follow few simple rules. First and most important is water, please start drinking at least three litters of water from the day you decide you want to go for this yatra. During the yatra please keep drinking three to four liters of water everyday. Stay mentally fit; give time for acclimatization to avoid high altitude sickness.
Consumption of medicines should be avoided as far as possible which makes the body more prone to weakness. However in case of acute emergencies medicines may be advisable. Most of the pilgrims going on this pilgrimage do not consume garlic but for high altitude garlic pearls swallowed with water couple of times during the day avoids most of the inconveniences. For precautionary measures DIAMOX is one medicine that reduces the risk of getting high altitude sickness. We will provide this medicine to all pilgrims as and when needed. Other than this homeopathic medicines for high altitude are very helpful which your private practitioner or a registered Homeopathy store would advice you on. Ayurvedic medicines with honey are excellent for avoiding the maximum illnesses arising in high altitude. Other than this, please take your regular medicines that you have been prescribed by your family doctor. Recent first aid kits containing various sprays for injury, burns, sprains, etc. are very useful. Then Glucose, Electrolyte powder, cough syrups etc.
