Bhaktapur : 1 Day tour

Bhaktapur is the third largest city in Nepal. Founded during the 12th century AD by King Anand Dev Malla, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility still prevails in this city as there is very less traffic here.

It is at a distance of about 12 kms from Kathmandu, a very short distance to cover. The small entrance fee to enter the city tends to keep the crowd away from this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This city is filled with temples. Many of the most interesting structures, including the 55-windowed palace that used to serve as the royal seat of Nepal, are centered on the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. There are 24 distinct neighborhoods to explore, each with their own private temples.

Visit Potters’ Square for traditional pottery, city is also rich in tradional handicrafts. You can get painted black clay masks, metalwork, traditional Buddhist paintings and locally grown teas.

Thangka School of Art is a must see, where students learn how to paint incredible Buddhist religious paintings from their masters.
The yogurt with locally produced honey, is a specialty in Bhaktapur.
